Background and Experience
Michael has been a commercial real estate professional for over 25 years. For the first 18 years he held various real estate management positions with Manulife Financial. As
Leasing Director he negotiated over 400 transactions across North America which included a number of brand recognized global companies.
With an in-depth understanding of legal documents he spearheaded the drafting of the corporate lease that Manulife still uses as the common document for its office building portfolio.
Subsequently he transitioned to property development to manage the development of a 2
million sq. ft. office complex in Chicago and through a construction management arrangement he constructed Manulife’s 350,000 sq. ft. Toronto head office extension and retrofitted two existing buildings totaling 750,000 sq. ft. While in this position he was responsible for preparing detailed property proforma and gained a thorough understanding of property budgets for large scale mixed use developments.
Scope of Experience
Michael’s diverse knowledge of real estate practices in a number of North American markets has provided the opportunity to negotiate a wide variety of transactions in virtually every industry sector including office, industrial, retail and investment. Since entering the brokerage industry in 2002 Michael has represented landlords and tenants and concluded numerous transactions with industrial and office users including two design build facilities for not-for-profit organizations.
He draws on his past experience, built on successful execution of client assignments, to foster strong relationships and to negotiate creative solutions that satisfy the distinct requirements of each user.
Michael’s ability to streamline the real estate process, provide accurate market intelligence and
detailed transaction economics in a simple decision ready format has helped his clients to
make informed real estate decisions.
Michael will be focusing on office/industrial leasing and managing listing assignments in
the GTA.
